I Wonder U: Press Rewind – Prince Lyrics Podcast

On Episode 78 of the Press Rewind – Prince Lyrics Podcast, Farooq Ansari (@anti-social on Twitter) and I talk about the mood piece that is “I Wonder U” off the Parade album. The song is notable not necessarily for its lyrics but as the first officially released song on a Prince album that was not sung by Prince! We still have plenty to say about this short segue.

Check out the Press Rewind discord at discord.gg/f8Ueuym and join us in discussing all things Prince.

The goal of each episode of Press Rewind is to:

  • Take a track by track look at the lyrical content of Prince’s discography
  • Discuss my own interpretation of each song’s lyrics along with any guest I may have
  • If submitted, discuss listener’s interpretations of each song’s lyrics

Thank you for joining me on this journey through Prince’s catalog!

New Position: Press Rewind – Prince Lyrics Podcast

On Episode 77 of the Press Rewind – Prince Lyrics Podcast, Eloy Lasanta and I talk about the short, funky, innuendo-filled Parade track, “New Position.” Is there more to this song than meets the ear, or is this a classic case of overthinking the lyrics? We’ll let you be the judge!

Make sure to check out Eloy’s Prince’s Friend YouTube channel to get your Prince fix on that social media platform. You can find my “blink, and you’ll miss it” appearance in his Emancipation album review from 2019. Follow Eloy’s latest endeavor, Strays of the World, on Twitter @WeAreAllStrays.

Christopher Tracy’s Parade: Press Rewind – Prince Lyrics Podcast

On Episode 76 of the Press Rewind – Prince Lyrics Podcast, I am once again joined by Julian Long to talk about the lyrics for “Christopher Tracy’s Parade”, the first track from Parade, which served as the soundtrack to the film, Under the Cherry Moon. For a song without many lyrics, there is a lot to talk about in terms of the song’s purpose as the opening song on the album, it’s origin as “Little Girl Wendy’s Guitar” and the missing lyrical link to the former vault track “All My Dreams.”
